It was great to see Newmarket featured in New Hampshire Magazine this month in their piece, Our Town: Discover the Always Up and Coming Newmarket. It’s always encouraging when people from outside our borders notice what those of us who live here already know — this is a special place.
Newmarket has a way of blending its past and future in a way that feels natural. You can stand on Main Street and see centuries of history in the mills and the river, while at the same time feeling the energy of a community that’s moving forward with purpose. The article captured that balance well: the creativity, the small‑town character, the sense of possibility, and the people who make this town what it is.
We really do have a rich history — one that stretches from the earliest days of the parish to the mills that shaped the town, to the diverse and welcoming community we are today. And we also have a strong foundation for what comes next. Whether it’s the revitalization of downtown, the arts and music scene, the businesses choosing to grow here, or the volunteers who keep showing up to make things happen, Newmarket continues to evolve without losing its identity.
It’s nice to see the wider world take notice. But more importantly, it’s a reminder of why we choose to live here, raise families here, and invest our time and energy here. Newmarket is always “up and coming” because its people keep pushing it forward while honoring where we’ve been.
We live in a special place — and it’s good to see that recognized.
