How we work with others to plan celebrations

In January, members of the 300 Committee met with several organizations and other committees in town to build relationships and gather ideas for collaborating on events to celebrate the USA 250 and the Newmarket 300. Some attendees included the Newmarket Business Association (NBA), Lamprey River Advisory Committee (LRAC), Main St. Corporation, Arts, Culture and Tourism Commission and Blooming Newmarket to name just a few! Here is what we talked about:

  • What is our shared vision for this anniversary celebration, and how can each organization’s mission align with it?
  • What are the core goals we hope to achieve by working together, beyond what we could accomplish individually?
  • How can we ensure the celebration represents the diverse history and all constituent groups within our community?
  • What feeling or impression do we want residents and visitors to have after experiencing the event?

The outcome of this gathering is already being seen. Our Calendar of events is full of collaborative activities this year. Our 2027 plans are still growing but include joint planning with the Library and Senior Center for a Heritage cookbook and potlucks, our Opening and Closing ceremonies, and a parade! Ideas are flowing in and I am confident that our 2027 calendar, like this year’s, will be chock full of exciting and family friendly activities.

Do you have an event you would like help with for our calendar? Send us your ideas and we will contact you to see if we can collaborate on them.
