The Revolution Comes to the Seacoast

Four months before the “shot heard round the world” was fired at Lexington and Concord in April 1775, farmers and fishermen of Seacoast New Hampshire rose up to defy British authority at Fort William & Mary. Dane Morrison tells the less-well-known story of how the colonists’ resistance movement came together, revealing the conditions that led Seacoast communities to rebel against their king.
Newmarket resident Dane Morrison is a professor emeritus of early American history at Salem State University. His research has focused on contacts between early America and the world. Among his publications on the subject is his forthcoming book, Yankees Abroad: Critical Themes in World History.
